Introduction to Sailing

Enjoy a 3 hour sail while learning the basics of keel boat sailing.

Sail Canada Basic Cruising Certification

Four full days consisting of 28 hours of hands on sailing skills instruction and classroom knowledge. This course leads to the Sail Canada Basic Cruising examination and certification. The purpose of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and skills to safely operate a 30-35 foot sailboat with family or friends aboard in costal waters with favorable conditions. Manual, test and certification card provided.

Ken is a Sail Canada and American Sailing Association Cruising Instructor and avid sailor.

He acquired his RYA Yacht Masters Offshore Certificate of Competency in the Solent in England.

Captain Ken is current with: Transport Canada Marine Basic first Aid and Transportation Canada STCW.

He owns and runs Grand Bend Sailing School and has taught Basic Cruising courses since 2018. The operation has now moved to beautiful Bayfield.

He has skippered luxury crewed sailing catamarans up to 58 feet in the Caribbean for several years. He currently resides in the British Virgin Islands for the winters and the shores of Lake Huron in the summers, offering sailing training in both locations.

His passion is teaching sailing, and cruising the North Channel , one of the finest fresh water cruising grounds in the world.
